Some regions of the world have radar and satellite cover. This is indicated by the Tab Bar items being active. Simply click on the radar/satellite Buttons, to see those. The maps will display the country or continent of the point of interest you've selected.

To animate the view, just tap the map. Tap it again to stop. You can also single step the pictures by clicking the skip forward/back buttons, or slide the slider to animate at the speed you like best. You can scroll the map to the sides, or zoom by pinching it with two fingers.
