Troubleshooting
Registration for Premium failed
-
After subscribing to Premium, we recommend you register your account. After entering the username, password and e-mail address, we will automatically send you a verification email with a confirmation link. However, this verification email is being “blocked” by some providers (currently mainly GMX) so if you do not receive the verification email please contact our support team. Please provide us with your username and we will activate your account.
If you experience any other problems during the registration process please don’t create a new account, simply contact us and we will help.
My Premium functions don't work any more.
-
There could be two reasons for Premium to stop working on WeatherPro:
- Your Premium subscription has expired. Open WeatherPro and go to Settings / Status Premium. If your subscription has expired you will find no reference to a valid subscription. To purchase Premium click on "Active" and select from the options.
- You have changed your iPad and the new one is not registered in our database. If you still have your old device, you can transfer your subscription yourself.
Step 1 - Create an account
Create an account on the device on which you purchased your premium subscription. On WeatherPro go to Settings / Account / Create new account. Wait for the verification e-mail then, click the link inside the e-mail for verification. You will receive a second e-mail confirming that you have successfully created an account to backup your Premium purchase.
Step 2 - Transfer premium
Go to your new device and enter your account details at Settings / Account. Press "Register this device". It might take some time to register but you can check each device by going to Settings / Status Premium. To refresh the status, press the update button in the top right corner.
If the above answers do not solve the problem, do not buy Premium again. Contact our support team and we can help you re-activate your subscription.
I’m trying to purchase the in-app Premium subscription but the error message: "Payment not allowed" appears.
-
This error message appears if payment can’t be completed. There are several possible reasons for this. Please check that:
- On your iPad, Settings / General / Restrictions is set to “OFF”.
- You are logged in to the same iTunes account with which you bought WeatherPro.
- It's no jailbreak iPad with installed AppSync (which has to be removed before purchasing Premium).
When trying to play the Windstream Animation, I get an "Error" message.
-
Unfortunately this problem resides with the net provider rather than WeatherPro, so there is nothing we are able to do. The data is delivered correctly, but some net providers cannot transmit the data correctly to your device. In our experience this is not a common problem but, if this error occurs repeatedly, please contact your provider’s customer support.
WeatherPro isn't displaying any data.
-
If the data is not updating or is not displayed at all, this means that WeatherPro is failing to communicate with our database server. This could be due to a service problem (maintenance, errors, server failures). Please check for support messages on Twitter: twitter.com/weatherpro or at Twitter News on www.weatherpro.eu.
If there is no service problem then it could be an issue with your internet connection. please check your connection. if a connection is available but WeatherPro is still not working , please contact our support team.
Please note that if your internet connection works but you are still experiencing data problems then WeatherPro may try to load old data. To stop this please go to “Settings” (in your device, not in the app itself) and select WeatherPro. In “Program Settings” change “Reset Data Cache” to “ON”.
WeatherPro crashes.
-
If WeatherPro continually crashes, especially after updating the app, it might help to reboot the iPad to avoid memory fragmentation. Please also refer to this link from Apple.
Still no success? Please delete WeatherPro from your iPad and then re-install it by synching your device with iTunes. Alternatively you can download it again from the app store - Apple knows which applications you have purchased, so you will not have to pay twice.
Observation data is shown but there are no forecasts.
-
Please check your time zone, time and date settings.
The radar forecast shows red spots or streaks.
-
These are not errors. The red indicates areas where there is no rainfall data available.
Sandbox Account
-
If you have a jailbreak iPad it is not currently possible to subscribe to in app purchases. Some people report that removing AppSync could be a solution:
1. Remove WeatherPro and AppSync.
2. Reboot iPad.
3. Download WeatherPro from the app store again.
4. Complete your in app purchase.
5. Reinstall AppSync.
Instructions for use
For an overview of the features available on WeatherPro please visit www.weatherpro.eu and select the relevant device. This will provide you with general instructions for use whilst below we have tried to answer a few more specific questions.
What does the "L" in the title bar mean?
-
The "L" stands for local time. If it’s visible then the forecast you are seeing is in local time. If it is not there and you are looking at a location in another time zone you might see (for example) a moon icon at midday. Clicking on the title bar (with the place name, date etc) makes the “L” appear or disappear and adjusts the time zone accordingly.
Why can't I get radar images for certain countries?
-
European radar images (in contrast to the USA) are not freely available. We constantly strive to provide more and more radar data and hope that one day we will be able to offer precipitation type radar for the whole of Europe.
Why is there a discrepancy between the hourly and daily values for chance of precipitation?
-
The likelihood of precipitation within the day view corresponds to a greater time period than that of the hourly view, so the values will be higher. Put another way, the likelihood that it will rain in the course of an entire day is considerably higher than the likelihood of that happening within one specific hour - the rain could just as easily fall in the preceding or following hour. It would no longer fall within the hour in question, but still within the day as a whole!
Why does WeatherPro for iPad often show higher rainfall than WeatherPro for iPhone?
-
WeatherPro for iPhone and WeatherPro for iPad are not identical apps. Currently the forecast summaries on WeatherPro for iPhone are split into 12 hour periods (day and night) whereas the summaries on iPad are for 24 hours. Total rainfall during a full day will be higher than the rainfall during the morning or the night hence the discrepancy between the iPhone and iPad summaries.
How can I save my favourite locations?
-
After searching for a location, you can save it as a favourite by clicking on the star on the right side of the search results. The location is automatically added to the end of your favourites list.
To delete a favourite just tap on the "pencil" icon in the lower left corner, press the red button next to the location you wish to delete and then confirm. Press the "pencil" icon again to come out of this mode.
Where do I find a key for the charts?
-
To explain which data is shown in the charts, we have integrated a key, indicated by a small “i” in the top left corner of each chart. Click on the “i” to get information on the charts and graphs.
What does the questions mark at the bottom of the page mean?
-
The question mark provides a detailed description of the content on each sub-page of WeatherPro. FAQs and a summary of all the help pages can also be found in the settings. If you can’t find the answer to your question, please email us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Does WeatherPro recognise the local time of the location I am looking for?
-
When you look at a location in another time zone you might see (for example) a moon icon at midday. This is due to the time shift and can be easily fixed. Simply click on the title bar (with place name, date etc.) and an "L" will appear. The "L" stands for local time and data will be updated for the respective time zone.
General support
Can I use my premium account on other devices?
-
Whether on iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you only have to pay once for your premium account. You can connect up to five devices to one account, so that you can use all the premium features on your secondary devices without paying again.
If you have any problems, please contact our support team.
How do I renew my premium subscription before it expires?
-
There’s a little trick to renewing your premium subscription before the current one ends. First, disconnect your device from your account: Settings > Premium Status > Disconnect from the account. The entry changes to:
Active: No
Tied to users: No
Now purchase your new premium service by tapping on any premium feature and then confirming the purchase. Simply reconnect to your account and now both subscriptions will be summarised. When your current subscription expires, the new subscription will begin immediately.
Which forecasts are available within WeatherPro?
-
WeatherPro is developed by MeteoGroup, Europe’s largest independent weather company. At MeteoGroup, we have developed our own forecast system which is used, not only for WeatherPro, but also to serve our business customers. Forecast accuracy is therefore of utmost importance for all of our products and WeatherPro users benefit from forecasts being updated and revised several times every day.
Why isn’t WeatherPro a "universal" app?
-
We considered developing WeatherPro as a universal app but the most important thing to us is quality and, in order to guarantee this for our users, we chose to create separate apps that are optimised for each device. Universal apps also have a lot of technical limitations for example small memory which, with an app like WeatherPro which has a lot of data, would result in poor stability for iPhone or 3G devices.
How do I contact you with queries, problems or suggestions?
-
A lot of questions can be answered by looking on WeatherPro itself so please have a look through our FAQ and Online Help sections. If you are unable to find the answer you are looking for or you would like to contact us with a suggestion for future development, please email us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
I can't find the location I’m looking for on WeatherPro.
-
We currently have over 2 million locations on our database and it is being continually added to. However, if the place you are looking for is not available, simply send us an email, providing the name of the location and (ideally) the corresponding administrative region and we’ll add your desired location to the service.
Can I use WeatherPro when I’m offline?
-
If WeatherPro is used offline, you will receive a warning that no data connection is available. Information will still be displayed using data stored during your last online session, but it won't update.
Can I use WeatherPro when I'm abroad?
-
No problem. Just ensure that data roaming is enabled within the iPad settings. However, be careful as roaming costs are not included within standard contracts so you will be charged. To avoid the potentially high roaming costs, we recommend connecting via WiFi.
Why do I have to pay extra for the premium services?
-
With a premium subscription, you will benefit from a lot more functionality and data such as 14 day forecasts and precipitation type radar. Buying, processing and hosting all this extra data is expensive!
Will only the premium version be developed further in the future?
-
No, future WeatherPro updates will include additional developments to the standard and premium services. Even without premium services WeatherPro is the most comprehensive weather app available on the market.
What additional functionality can I expect in the future?
-
Our plan is to bring out a new release every 2-3 month and you won’t be disappointed – we have exciting plans for WeatherPro. Under Release Notes you will find details of the latest releases and their respective update information.
