Troubleshooting
Registration for Premium failed
-
After subscribing to Premium, we recommend you register your account. After entering the username, password and e-mail address, we will automatically send you a verification email with a confirmation link. However, this verification email is being “blocked” by some providers (currently mainly GMX) so if you do not receive the verification email please contact our support team. Please provide us with your username and we will activate your account.
If you experience any other problems during the registration process please don’t create a new account, simply contact us and we will help.
I bought premium, but I can’t see additional data / can’t get access to the premium features.
-
In this case it is usually sufficient to restart the device. Under More / Settings / Account & subscription / premium status the premium services should now be activated (Active: Yes). If there is still no premium data available please send the document number of your premium purchase to our support and we will generate a code which will unlock the premium features.
The widget has disappeared / the weather symbols on the widget are not loading
-
If the weather symbols on the widget have disappeared please try removing the widget and then adding it back to the homescreen. This should solve the problem on most devices however, all Android devices are slightly different so, if this doesn’t work, or if the widget itself has disappeared, please uninstall the app completely and then reinstall. Apologies for the inconvenience.
The widget is not updating
-
On some Android smartphones we are experiencing problems with the widget not updating. We are working on a fixing this but until then it can be solved by taking the following steps:
1. Delete all the WeatherPro widgets from your home screen.
2. Uninstall WeatherPro from the device: Settings > Applications > Manage applications > WeatherPro > Uninstall.
3. Reboot your Android smartphone.
4. Download WeatherPro from the Google Play Store.
5. Open the app and choose your favourite locations and preferred settings.
6. Place the widget on your home screen again and open WeatherPro by clicking on the widget.
7. Close the app using the back button. The widget should now update every half hour (sometimes it could take 40 minutes to update if there is a large amount of data).
On most devices this is a one-off problem and it should not occur again. Unfortunately however, users are experiencing ongoing problems with the 4x2 widget on Samsung devices. Our developers are working hard on a solution but in the meantime we kindly ask you to use the 4x1 widget which is working smoothly with no reported problems.
The widget disappears after I reboot my smartphone.
-
This problem arises because you can't use the widget and App2SD simultaneously. Both features have been added due to popular request but unfortunately users have to choose between freeing up internal memory space by using App2SD or getting your forecast at a glance with the widget.
To fix the problem simply move WeatherPro to your internal memory space, reboot your device and then reload the widget.
WeatherPro isn’t displaying any data.
-
If the data is not updating or is not displayed at all, this means that WeatherPro is failing to communicate with our database server. This could be due to a service problem (maintenance, errors, server failures). Please check for support messages on Twitter: twitter.com/weatherpro or at Twitter News on www.weatherpro.eu.
If there is no service problem then it could be an issue with your internet connection. Please check your connection. If a connection is available but WeatherPro is still not working, please contact our support team.
Please note that if your internet connection works but you are still experiencing data problems then WeatherPro may try to load old data. To stop this, please go to Settings (in your device, not in the app itself) and select WeatherPro. In Program Settings, change Reset Data Cache to “ON”.
WeatherPro crashes.
-
If WeatherPro continually crashes, especially after updating the app, it might help to reboot your smartphone to avoid memory fragmentation.
Observation data is shown but there are no forecasts.
-
Please check your time zone, time and date settings.
I’ve changed the language settings on my smartphone but the language in WeatherPro hasn’t updated.
-
For changes to come into effect, please stop and then restart WeatherPro.
The time below the date is not current!
-
The time that is shown below the date is not the current time of day, it’s the time of last observation data input from the weather station.
My favorites are clear on their own.
-
This problem occurs mainly on Android 2.2 Froyo and can be solved by a software update.
Instructions for use
For an overview of the features available on WeatherPro please visit www.weatherpro.eu and select the relevant device. This will provide you with general instructions for use whilst below we have tried to answer a few more specific questions.
How do I activate WeatherPro’s Live Wallpaper?
-
To activate WeatherPro’s Live Wallpaper go to Menu / Wallpapers / Live Wallpapers. Scroll down, select “WeatherPro Live Wallpaper” and choose your favourite location by tapping on "Settings". With another tap on "Set Wallpaper" the Live Wallpaper is activated and it will automatically update with the incoming weather data. Please note that on certain devices (eg HTC Desire HD) an additional step is necessary. After selecting “WeatherPro Live Wallpaper”, you then need to click on “Preview” before you can set your favourite location.
The data will no refresh
-
To update the data simply open WeatherPro and shake your Android smartphone. Conveniently, this also deletes the cache.
What does the "L" in the title bar mean?
-
The "L" stands for local time. If it’s visible then the forecast you are seeing is in local time. If it is not there and you are looking at a location in another time zone you might see (for example) a moon icon at midday. Clicking on the title bar (with the place name, date etc) makes the “L” appear or disappear and adjusts the time zone accordingly.
Why can't I get radar images for certain countries?
-
European radar images (in contrast to the USA) are not freely available. We constantly strive to provide more and more radar data and hope that one day we will be able to offer precipitation type radar for the whole of Europe.
Why is there a discrepancy between the hourly and daily values for chance of precipitation?
-
The likelihood of precipitation within the day view corresponds to a greater time period than that of the hourly view, so the values will be higher. Put another way, the likelihood that it will rain in the course of an entire day is considerably higher than the likelihood of that happening within one specific hour - the rain could just as easily fall in the preceding or following hour. It would no longer fall within the hour in question, but still within the day as a whole!
How can I save my favourite locations?
-
After searching for a location, you can save it as a favourite by clicking on the star on the right side of the search results. The location is automatically added to the end of your favourites list. To delete a favourite just press the red button next to the location you wish to delete and then confirm.
How can I change the date and time?
-
The date and time format is determined by the settings on your device. If you change the format in the settings of your smartphone but WeatherPro does not update then please go to Settings / Application / Manage Application / WeatherPro and delete the cache files.
Does WeatherPro recognise the local time of the location I am looking for?
-
When you look at a location in another time zone you might see (for example) a moon icon at midday. This is due to the time shift and can be easily fixed. Simply click on the title bar (with place name, date etc.) and an "L" will appear. The "L" stands for local time and data will be updated for the respective time zone.
How can I restore the menu bar?
-
Press the menu button for the menu bar to reappear.
General support
Can I purchase premium only in the Google Play Store?
-
Currently you can purchase our premium service only in the Google Play Store. But don’t worry, even if you have purchased WeatherPro from another AppStore, there will be no problems installing your premium on your Android smartphone.
Can I use my premium account on other devices?
-
Whether on Android, iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you only have to pay once for your premium account. You can connect up to five devices to one account, so that you can use all the premium features on your secondary devices without paying again.
Step 1 - Create an account
Create an account on the device on which you purchased your premium subscription. On WeatherPro go to More / Settings / Account / Create new account. Wait for the verification e-mail then, click the link inside the e-mail for verification. You will receive a second e-mail confirming that you have successfully created an account to backup your Premium purchase.
Step 2 - Transfer premium
Go to your new device and enter your account details at More / Settings / Account. Press "Register this device". It might take some time to register but you can check each device by going to Settings / Status Premium. To refresh the status, press the update button in the top right corner.
If you have any problems, please contact our support team.
How do I renew my premium subscription before it expires?
-
There’s a little trick to renewing your premium subscription before the current one ends. First, disconnect your device from your account: Settings > Premium Status > Disconnect from the account. The entry changes to:
Active: No
Tied to users: No
Now purchase your new premium service by tapping on any premium feature and then confirming the purchase. Simply reconnect to your account and now both subscriptions will be summarised. When your current subscription expires, the new subscription will begin immediately.
Why do I have to pay extra for the premium services?
-
With a premium subscription, you will benefit from a lot more functionality and data such as 14 day forecasts and precipitation type radar. Buying, processing and hosting all this extra data is expensive!
Will only the premium version be developed further in the future?
-
No, future WeatherPro updates will include additional developments to the standard and premium services. Even without premium services WeatherPro is the most comprehensive weather app available on the market.
I already use WeatherPro for Android on my tablet so can I upgrade to WeatherPro HD for Android for free?
-
WeatherPro HD for Android is not an upgrade of WeatherPro for Android. It is a separate app which has been specially developed and optimised for tablets.
Where does WeatherPro get its forecasts from?
-
WeatherPro is developed by MeteoGroup, Europe’s largest independent weather company. At MeteoGroup, we have developed our own forecast system which is used, not only for WeatherPro, but also to serve our business customers. Forecast accuracy is therefore of utmost importance for all of our products and WeatherPro users benefit from forecasts being updated and revised several times every day.
How do I contact you with queries, problems or suggestions?
-
A lot of questions can be answered by looking on WeatherPro itself so please have a look through our FAQ and Online Help sections. If you are unable to find the answer you are looking for or you would like to contact us with a suggestion for future development, please email us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
I can't find the location I’m looking for on WeatherPro.
-
We currently have over 2 million locations on our database and it is being continually added to. However, if the place you are looking for is not available, simply send us an email, providing the name of the location and (ideally) the corresponding administrative region and we’ll add your desired location to the service.
Can I use WeatherPro when I’m offline?
-
If WeatherPro is used offline, you will receive a warning that no data connection is available. Information will still be displayed using data stored during your last online session, but it won't update.
Why does WeatherPro have more functions on the Apple devices?
-
WeatherPro has been available in iTunes since 2008 so the simple answer is that we have been developing new functions on the Apple devices for longer. However, our developers are working hard on WeatherPro for Android and we regularly release new updates with additional functionality.
Can I use WeatherPro when I'm abroad?
-
No problem. Just ensure that data roaming is enabled within the Android settings. However, be careful as roaming costs are not included within standard smartphone contracts so you will be charged. To avoid the potentially high roaming costs, we recommend connecting via WiFi.
What additional functionality can I expect in the future?
-
Our plan is to bring out a new release every 2-3 month and you won’t be disappointed – we have exciting plans for WeatherPro. Under Release Notes you will find details of the latest releases and their respective update information.
